SAN JOSE, Calif. – January 25, 2018 – FileTrail, a leader in next-generation records management software, announces the introduction of FileTrail GPS™, Governance Policy Suite. The new platform is designed to help law firms improve their client retention by providing a comprehensive information governance solution that manages outside counsel guidelines along with firm policies.
FileTrail GPS revolutionizes how law firms implement IG policies and meet their outside counsel guidelines by managing retention policies across all repositories within the firm ecosystems and automating their review cycles to achieve auditable, defensible disposition. FileTrail’s newest document management system connectors include NetDocuments, iManage and OpenText, allowing firms to manage retention policies against any record in any repository and achieve a more modern, streamlined RM/DM solution.
IG is not a new initiative. In addition to the ever-increasing costs of long-term records storage, there is risk in holding files longer than necessary, as they become subject to discovery when consistent execution of retention policies cannot be demonstrated. But despite their understanding of the importance of IG, many firms struggle to fully implement and consistently execute their defined policies.
Of equal importance today is managing outside counsel guidelines. Corporations have historically been more sophisticated in dealing with IG, but now industry consortiums are putting even stricter rules in place that demand compliance both by the companies serving those industries and their outside counsel. Firms that fail to follow OCG for retention are subjecting their clients to undue risk, and those clients are no longer looking the other way.
“As law firms are realizing that failure to meet OCG will put them at risk of not retaining clients, it became clear that solving this challenge needed to be among our priorities as we were developing our next generation IG solution,” says FileTrail president Darrell Mervau. “We’re excited to launch FileTrail GPS and look forward to sharing it with the market at Legalweek New York. We are confident firms will recognize the opportunity they have to significantly improve their compliance with internal IG and OCG retention policies once they’ve viewed a product demo.”
Earlier this month FileTrail announced its completion of new connectors for firms looking to integrate their records management and document management platforms. FileTrail connectors are now available for NetDocuments, iManage (versions 5 through 10) and OpenText eDOCS to allow users to access physical records without leaving their DMS. The company’s integration tools also include connectors to synchronize data from new business intake, provisioning (ethical walls) and billing systems to eliminate redundant data entry and ensure consistency, yielding greater efficiency and improved productivity.
FileTrail GPS will formally launch January 29. The company will showcase its GPS at exhibit booth #531 at the Legaltech Tradeshow, part of Legalweek New York, January 30 to February 1. Attendees wishing to sign up in advance for a product demo may do so at FileTrail’s website.
